Getting to
Savary Island
There is no bridge and no car ferry to Savary. Getting here is part of the experience: a couple of ferries, a drive up the Sunshine Coast, and a short water taxi across from Lund. Here is how it works.
The Journey
From Vancouver, step by step
Most people come up the Sunshine Coast from Horseshoe Bay. From Vancouver Island, you can shortcut across on the Comox to Powell River ferry.

Horseshoe Bay to Langdale
Catch the Sunshine Coast ferry from Horseshoe Bay, then drive up the coast to Earls Cove.

Earls Cove to Saltery Bay
A second ferry across Jervis Inlet. Your fare covers both crossings, so there are no toll booths on the Lower Sunshine Coast.

Drive to Lund
About half an hour to Powell River, then another half hour to Lund, the northern end of Highway 101. Fill up first: there is no road gas in Lund.

Park and unload
Leave your vehicle at the Lund Resort parking lot and carry your gear down the ramp to the float.

Lund Water Taxi across
A ten-minute crossing to Savary, the route almost every visitor takes. The driver loads the freight and hands it to you on the other side.

Land Taxi to your door
Savary’s signature crew-cab pickups haul you, the kids, dogs, coolers and bikes the final stretch to the cottage.

Before you go
Enough to unload the car, carry your things down the ramp, and park. It is not a trip to make in a rush.
Hazardous cargo such as car batteries, filled propane bottles and cans of gasoline cannot travel by water taxi. Plan those loads separately by barge.
Bring labelled Rubbermaid totes, check the tide tables since a higher tide makes loading easier, and keep a hand free when you board.
No road gas in Lund. Fill up at Tla’amin, Wildwood or Townsite, and keep enough in the tank for the round trip.
